I am the son of an accomplished Indonesian photographer, so I suppose I got my start by watching my Dad capture beautiful images of people during some of the most wonderful times of their lives. I remember following him on photo shoots and asking, “What’s the big deal, Dad? I don’t get why you’re taking a picture of just that!” Then, later, when the photographs arrived, I would see it–the small details overlooked by people caught up in the specialness of the moment. Small details that became for them the memory they held onto and passed down from generation to generation. Photography is a true gift, and I learned it from my Dad.
I think most people are artists at heart and we express our artistry in numerous ways–in our handwriting, our sketches, our fascination with music. My artistic bent comes out whenever I hold a camera. I am at my very best when capturing emotional moments and little, overlooked details…just like my Dad. I have an eye for beauty and a skill for capturing it in still imagery both in traditional and photojournalistic styles. I thoroughly enjoy telling stories through images and consider it my honor and my joy to have the opportunity to be a part of your important day.
